Why we work through Microsoft Partners

MatterX runs on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and integrates deeply with Microsoft 365. That's powerful—but it also means licensing depends on what Microsoft products your firm already has.

Rather than give you a price that's wrong for your situation, we work with certified Microsoft Partners who:

Assess your current Microsoft licensing

What do you already have? What do you need?

Bundle everything into one engagement

MatterX, Business Central, Microsoft 365, implementation, training, support

Simplify Microsoft complexity

One partner, one invoice, one relationship

Scope the right solution

MatterX often forms part of a larger Microsoft modernisation

The result: You get accurate pricing for your specific situation, not a generic number that doubles after the sales call.

What you're paying for: MatterX Legal Finance

Your Microsoft Partner bundles these into a single proposal based on your firm's specific needs.

1-15 lawyers, established Xero workflow

MatterX Legal Finance licensing for full platform
Business Central licensing for enterprise accounting
Full Microsoft 365 integration
Power BI and Power Platform capabilities

MatterX Legal Connect

For enterprise firms with complex CRM requirements

This is a separate product for large firms (15+ lawyers) requiring enterprise client relationship management built on Dynamics 365 Sales.

Legal Connect is not included in standard MatterX Legal Finance pricing. It requires:

Discovery assessment to confirm fit
Custom implementation scoping (3-6 months)
Dynamics 365 Sales licensing (separate from Business Central)
Dedicated integration with Legal Finance

Typical fit:

15+ lawyers, dedicated BD team, complex client intake workflows

Request Legal Connect Assessment

Most firms don't need Legal Connect. MatterX Legal Finance includes client and contact management sufficient for matter-centric workflows. Legal Connect adds enterprise CRM capabilities designed for dedicated business development operations.

What you won't find here

We're not going to show you a "$X per user per month" price that turns out to be wrong.

Here's why:

If your firm already has Microsoft 365 E3, your licensing costs are different than a firm on Microsoft 365 Business Basic

If you're deploying MatterX Legal Finance with Xero, your Business Central requirements differ from full deployment

If you're migrating from a legacy system with 10 years of data, your implementation scope differs from a new firm

If you need multi-company consolidation, your configuration differs from a single-entity practice

A generic price would be either too high (and scare you off) or too low (and create budget surprises later). Neither serves you well.

What we do instead: Connect you with a Microsoft Partner who asks the right questions and gives you accurate numbers.

Common questions

Why can't I just get a price from you directly?

Because your price depends on variables only a Microsoft Partner can assess: your current Microsoft licensing, deployment choice, implementation scope, and support requirements. Generic pricing would be either too high (and scare you off) or too low (and create surprises later).

Do I have to work with a specific partner?

DataChef365 is our recommended partner for Australian and New Zealand law firms, but you're free to work with any certified Microsoft Partner who has Business Central expertise.

Is there a minimum firm size?

MatterX is designed for 3+ lawyers. Below that, simpler solutions may be more cost-effective. We're honest about fit.

What if I already have Business Central?

Even better. Your Microsoft Partner will scope MatterX Legal Finance licensing and implementation on top of your existing investment.

What about MatterX Legal Connect pricing?

Legal Connect is a separate enterprise product built on Dynamics 365 Sales, designed for firms with 15+ lawyers and dedicated business development teams. It's custom-quoted based on a discovery assessment because implementation complexity varies significantly. Most firms find Legal Finance meets all their client management needs. If you think you need enterprise CRM capabilities, ask DataChef365 during your discovery call and they'll help you determine whether Legal Connect is actually necessary for your situation.

Can I get a ballpark?

Not one that's accurate enough to be useful. Talk to DataChef365 for a real assessment—it takes 30 minutes and gives you numbers you can actually budget with.
